As the oldest child of a teacher and a farmer, I still hold near and dear the values I learned from my rural upbringing on an Iowa farm. Those values include honesty, sincerity, loyalty, the knowledge of hard work and education. I was raised with a strong sense of faith which continues to guides my life. I am living my lifelong dream of practicing law. I graduated from Wayne Community High School in 1985. I attended and obtained a B.S in Political Science and Economics from Iowa State in 1989. I pursued my legal Education and graduated from Drake University in 1993 with my J.D. Upon graduation from law school I worked for a small law firm handling a wide variety of cases. I find working with people very natural and easy. My work has centered around helping those in crisis with need. My manta still to this day is to serve and help others. We continue to grow and learn throughout our lives. One of my greatest learning experiences has been in my role as a parent. I underestimated the wealth of knowledge and insight I would glean as a parent. I have served in numerous volunteer and leadership positions within the school, church and my children’s activities. I approach all life’s endeavors with passion and zest. I have three children. My oldest daughter attends the University of Iowa, my son is a high school student and my youngest is still a tween. It has been a joy and at times a challenge experiencing their growth and maturity. My husband is a professional and works for a fortune 500 company. My interests and activities outside the legal profession revolve around my children and their interests. Sports have and will always be a big part of my life, from my participation in high school, to cheering on all the Iowa collegiate teams, to attending professional games, coaching my children and sitting in the high school stands as a parent. The adversary nature of law tends to tear down families and shred them apart. One can only understand the fullness of this statement by witnessing years of trial work and it’s destruction upon families. It is imperative to have a competent experienced counselor in your corner the aftermath in a contested family law trial is akin to the survivors of the Japanese’s nuclear bombing in WWII. It is important in choosing an attorney to find someone you can trust and relate and that you listen to and follow their lead. I would consider it a privilege and honor to help guide your through this most difficult times. I can be reached at Loriholmlaw@aol.com or 515-247-9295.
