Serving families is my passion. I seek to find solutions that not only serve the best interests of children, but also create the opportunity for each member of the family to heal, grow, and ultimately thrive as they move through and beyond the divorce process.

As a family law attorney based in Des Moines, Iowa, I practice in multiple roles including collaborative attorney, mediator, and litigator. I strongly believe that the collaborative divorce process allows for creation of opportunities that traditional, adversarial divorce does not. The steadfast commitment to settlement through the collaborative approach creates solutions that simply are not available through litigation. As a collaborative attorney, I work hard to fully educate clients about the process and underlying rules, to clearly frame the issues, and to explain implications of decisions. Our goal is to achieve an informed settlement that maximizes the family’s resources and opportunities for the future.

I am a mother of two, lover of nature, reading, traveling, and movies. Our family loves spending time together hiking, camping and boating in Iowa, but we’re especially fond of the Colorado Rockies, too. An Iowa native and Hawkeye through-and-through, I earned my B.A.s in Communications and American Studies (2001) and J.D. (2005) at the University of Iowa. In my career, I have served as a Judicial Clerk in Iowa Judicial District 8A, City Prosecutor in the City of Colorado Springs, CO, and practiced family law in the Denver, CO area. These diverse experiences made me the well-rounded, compassionate attorney I am today. I returned to Iowa in 2019 and am a Member Attorney in the divorce and family law practice group at Whitfield & Eddy Law in Des Moines, Iowa. I am a member of the Iowa and Colorado bar.
