In 2015 he moved to Des Moines with his family. He is licensed as an attorney and mental health counselor in Illinois and Iowa. He is the owner of Scanlon Law Office PLLC, and Insight Family Counseling.
As a neutral family facilitator and coach in collaborative divorce cases, Lawrence views his role as the quarterback. His goals include keeping progress moving forward, addressing challenging issues that the other professionals find it difficult to address, and monitoring the progress of the case from a psychological perspective. His focus is making sure that the people involved are heard and understood, and that their interests are being met in a way that provides a better sense of control and a more satisfactory result at the conclusion of the case.
In addition to working as a neutral professional in collaborative divorce cases, he is trusted by Iowa Courts, judges, and attorneys in high conflict cases to serve clients needing psychological services, including coparenting counseling, divorce deliberation counseling, and reunification therapy.
