von Gillern Law Form, PLC
2500 82nd Place, Urbandale, Iowa 50322
My name is Annie von Gillern. I am trained as both a clinical social worker and a collaborative attorney. I primarily practice in collaborative law, mediation, and juvenile law. I am a mom to three small people (age 4, 2, and 4 months as of the date I am writing this) so my list of hobbies right now includes things like babywearing, attachment parenting, and fruit snacks. My husband and I were both born and raised in the Des Moines area and I graduated from Roosevelt High School.
I graduated from Iowa State University in 2004 with a BS in Psychology and a music minor. I received my Masters of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Missouri-Columbia where I specialized in child welfare. After graduation from Mizzou, I was an individual trauma therapist at the Family Violence Center in Des Moines. I have focused my training and professional work in domestic violence, child welfare, and trauma practices. I am a licensed independent social worker (LISW) and worked at the Middleton Center for Children’s Rights in the Drake Legal Clinic for seven years when I first started practicing after graduate school.
While working at the Legal Clinic I attended law school part-time and graduated in 2014, just before my second child was born. I focused my coursework in family and juvenile law and was a student attorney myself in the civil clinic, working on dissolution and custody cases.
